SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

The Mixed Institute of Cosmetology and Barber in Sacramento hosted its third annual backpack and haircut giveaway, offering students free backpacks filled with school supplies and haircuts.

"The turnout was amazing. Just to see the kids with the smile and the parents that have that relief that's one less thing that they have to worry about," said Sharie Wilson from the Mixed Institute of Cosmetology and Barber.

Keinya Beasley, also from the Mixed Institute, expressed joy in witnessing the children's happiness.

"What I love is seeing the smiles and the happiness these kids have when they're leaving here. They get their backpacks, they have their cuts and they're ready for school," Beasley said.
