LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The city of Lansing is seeking a court injunction to remove a long-standing homeless encampment.

The encampment, located behind Dietrich Park, has been active for approximately two years.

In the lawsuit, the city alleges that two local businesses have violated multiple codes and ordinances by allowing the encampment to remain on their property.

City officials argue that the site lacks basic sanitation and utility services, posing a threat to public health and safety.

If a judge grants the injunction, the encampment would be forced to shut down.

The court date is set for August 13.
