LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - Lyra Cummings lives in Lansing, and uses the Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) bus services for her essential trips.

She says, “It helps way more than one could think.” Whether it’s getting her groceries, or driving to work, Cummings says, some cannot afford to lose the services.

“Because it makes it so we can be like the people that have the cars and things like that to get to different places. When you cut off a limb, it’s almost like you have to learn how to do things over again,” she said.

On Monday, CATA CEO Bradley Funkhouser addressed the Lansing City Council, which included touching on the bus service’s $12 million budget shortfall. A shortfall that, down the road, could impact riders.
