Island Farm open for 16th Season

On Tuesday, April 8, Island Farm will open for its 16th season! A living history farmstead, Island Farm interprets the life of early Outer Bankers from the mid-1800s when just over 600 people inhabited Roanoke Island.

On opening day, visitors can expect a warm welcome to spring with live blacksmithing, buttermaking, hearthcooking, house tours, cooking demonstrations, and of course – plenty of livestock to see. Younger guests will find a large offering of toys and games, including everything from hoop and stick, quoits, and tug of war.

Admission to the site is $11, and children 3 and under are admitted for free. Island Farm will be open April through November, Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., where programming
