ATLANTA — Atlanta nurses on Tuesday rallied against the proposed federal funding cuts that seek to reduce the Department of Veterans Affairs staff by about 30,000 by the end of fiscal year 2025.

The Trump Administration said the reduction will make a more efficient and effective department , but some Georgia nurses disagree.

"We are seeing key positions being cut or reorganized, if you will," stated Atlanta VA nurse Teshara Felder at the rally outside the Atlanta VA on Tuesday. "What it ultimately causes is a reduction in services to veterans."

National Nurses United said the adverse effects are already being felt within the Atlanta VA, where the union claims management is looking to cut 55% of the nursing staff in the Mental Health Intensive Case Management.
