CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Eight years ago today, a group of white supremacist flooded the streets of Charlottesville during the Unite the Right rally.

Groups of Neo-Nazis brandishing tiki torches, swastikas and Confederate flags marched on the UVA Lawn and the streets of Charlottesville on August 11th and 12th, 2017, respectively. The groups were protesting the removal of the Robert E. Lee statue in Market Street Park, formerly Lee Park.
