KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Autograph sessions aren’t unusual at Kauffman Stadium, but on Tuesday, Royals players weren’t signing baseball cards. They were receiving them.

“I know it just means a lot to those kids,” pitcher Lucas Erceg said. “Obviously, the situation that they’re in isn’t really the best.”

Baseball card company Topps created custom cards for 10 kids who are patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Erceg and pitcher Kris Bubic asked teammates to swing by for a special signing session Tuesday afternoon.

“When people want our autographs, I know I like signing for kids and it makes me feel special,” Erceg said. “Hopefully it’s the same for them, too.”

The kids got to hang around after to watch batting practice and the team’s game against the Washington Nationals.
