ROCKFORD, Ill. (WREX) — Aldermen have advanced the Davis Park redevelopment plan to the full city council after a lengthy discussion. The proposal had been delayed twice as members of the finance and personnel committee sought more clarity on project details, including costs and logistics.

Three proposals to commence construction have now passed the committee. However, the project's estimated cost has risen to more than $15 million, up from the initial estimate of just under $11 million.

Alderman Jonathan Logemann expressed optimism about the project’s future.
