CASCO, Maine — A 71-year-old Sebago man was seriously injured Wednesday morning when the electric bicycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck on Route 302 in Casco.
The crash was reported at 11:14 a.m. Wednesday, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said in a press release. Sheriff’s deputies and Casco Fire-Rescue responded to the scene.
Investigators said James Nason was traveling eastbound in the breakdown lane when he attempted to turn his electric bicycle left onto Brown Avenue and struck the side of a 2004 Toyota Tacoma driven by 29-year-old David Fields of Portland.
Nason, who sheriffs said was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike. He was flown to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries.
Fields was not hurt, and his vehicle had only minor damage,
