DAVENPORT, Iowa (WQAD) - An Iowa Supreme Court justice is withdrawing himself from the Davenport building collapse case, WQAD reports .
Justice Thomas Waterman’s withdrawal is likely due to his ties with his former law firm, Lane and Waterman, which is representing the City of Davenport and former city employees named in the lawsuit.
During the 2023 building collapse, three men were killed and many more were left without their homes.
Dozens of those residents joined a class action lawsuit against former building owner Andrew Wold, his LLCs, and the City of Davenport.
The court is expected to hear the case in October.
