SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- After years of lagging behind other major metros in return-to-office rates, San Francisco is in the midst of a "major revival" and has surged past Los Angeles in post-pandemic office visits. Those are the findings of the latest Office Index from location tracking firm Placer.ai.
After years at, or near, the bottom of the return-to-office rankings, the City by the Bay has now surpassed both Los Angeles and Denver, according to Placer.ai's Office Index for July, 2025. San Francisco actually leads year-over-year office visit recovery when comparing July of 2025 to 2024.
"Indeed, San Francisco appears to be in the midst of a major revival, with rising rents, improving public sentiment, and waves of new restaurants, retail and small business openings breathing fresh li
