The first New Orleans location of Trader Joe's is expected to open to fanfare Thursday morning as eager shoppers flock to the highly anticipated Tulane-Gravier location for their share of specialty foods and snacks.

The store, which has been in the works for two years, will host an official ceremony before opening its doors at 9 a.m.

The Metairie location has been open for years and is regularly packed, so visitors should prepare for a high volume of shoppers.

The new Trader Joe's grocery store is just under 10,000 square feet, slightly smaller than the chain's other locations.
