GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - A homicide investigation is underway in George County.

Deputies say they found the victim near Finch Road after responding to a call about an incident at approximately 5:38 a.m. on Wednesday.

Shortly after, officials identified a person of interest. Officials with the Lucedale Police Department and the George County Sheriff’s Office then conducted a traffic stop and detained the individual.

“We want the public to know that this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the community,” said Sheriff Mitchell Mixon.
