Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman spoke at the Two Mississippi Museums Tuesday to headline the inaugural Big Voices for Little Children fundraiser.
The fundraiser, created by TrueCare Mississippi and Mississippi Early Learning Alliance, supports early childhood learning by connecting communities with the resources they need.
Freeman, who grew up in Charleston, MS, helped launch MELA in 2019 through his SonEdna foundation, previously called the Tallahatichie River Foundation, according to the MELA website .
MELA helps support early learning from birth to age five through public policy, fundraisers and Mississippi Early Learning Resources .
Tuesday, Freeman spoke on the importance of investing in strong starts in early childhood education.
