KENTUCKY (WKYT) - For today’s Good Question, Angela asks: When is it safe for a child in KY to ride in the front seat of a single-cab truck? What are all the restrictions and requirements?

The answer to that question is the same for the front seat of any vehicle: wait until they turn 13.

The Kentucky Office of Highway Safety says research shows it is best for children aged 12 and under to always ride in the back seat.

The group Safe Ride 4 Kids says that’s because their skeletal systems haven’t developed enough for seatbelts to be as effective as they could be if they were in a crash.

Also, airbags can be deadly to children.
