WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — The number of unhoused people is growing every day, and the City of Williamsburg says it's taking a new approach to meet people where they are.
The HOPE Team Program is taking a boots-on-the-ground approach to help Williamsburg's homeless population. It launched at the end of May and is focused on providing aid to those hard-to-reach individuals.
Wendy Evans with the City of Williamsburg said many people don't realize how much homelessness impacts the city.
"Williamsburg is a small city, and I think that people may be surprised that there are people experiencing homelessness in the city," said Evans.
