DEL RIO, Texas — A school district in southwest Texas says an unauthorized person gained access to an elementary school early Wednesday.

San Felipe Del Rio CISD says that at around 5:30 a.m., a concerned citizen called 911 to report the unauthorized entry to police.

The unidentified suspect was able to scale a fence, then gain entry to Lamar Elementary School through an unsecured door in the school's cafeteria.

The City of Del Rio Police, together with San Felipe Del Rio CISD Police, quickly responded to the call and were able to find and detain the suspect.

"It is unclear if the individual was fleeing from someone or seeking medical attention," said a statement released by SFDRCISD.
