On Wednesday at 1:42 p.m. a severe thunderstorm warning was released by the National Weather Service in effect until 2 p.m. for Columbia, Greene and Rensselaer counties.

The storms are packing wind gusts of up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail (1 inch).

"At 1:40 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near New Baltimore, or 7 miles southwest of Nassau, moving southeast at 20 mph," says the weather service. "Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees."
