FORT OGLETHORPE, Ga. — A drone video shows the dramatic flooding in northwest Georgia as the Chattanooga area has been inundated by heavy rainfall .

The video was taken in Fort Oglethorpe on Tuesday by David Waltmermyer at the Battlewood Apartments near the center of town. Fort Oglethorpe is predominantly located in Catoosa County about 20 minutes south of Chattanooga.

According to Waltermyer, the floodwaters rose in the course of just a few hours.

Flooding spread Tuesday all around Chattanooga, and a local state of emergency was declared in Hamilton County, Tennessee by the county mayor Weston Wamp. He said in a statement:
