MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — Up for a late-night bolognese? Or, perhaps an after-party penne?

This Manhattan restaurant serves up affordable, high-quality pasta dishes in the West Village under the moonlight.

Midnight Spaghetti opened last April as an alternative to traditional after-hours foods, such as pizza. All pasta dishes are $12, and they also offer cocktails and wine for $10.

Co-founders Stephen Werther and Sarah Raffetto joined PIX11 to explain how the idea originated from an old Italian tradition.

"[Italians] would end the night out at someone's home or apartment in the kitchen, open up a bottle of wine, put up a pot of water and make midnight spaghetti with a simple sauce," Werther said.

"They would end the night with friends, wine and pasta."
