VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Clark County Sheriff's Office has released body camera footage of a July 30 incident in which a deputy shot and killed a man during a confrontation with law enforcement in downtown Vancouver.
Brandon Michael Whitcomb, 36, was killed by multiple gunshots to the head, neck and torso. In an initial news release, the sheriff's office said someone had called 911 to report that their son had broken into their home while high on meth, and was armed and had threatened to kill them. The caller then said their son had left on a bike.
A Vancouver police officer spotted the suspect, later identified as Whitcomb, and reported that he was still armed. Deputies confronted him on Main Street near East 19th Street. He was shot about four minutes after the Vancouver officer first
