ATLANTA — Families, clinicians, and gun safety advocates gathered Tuesday minutes away from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, demanding action in the wake of a deadly shooting that left a DeKalb County police officer dead last week.

The rally on Emory University's campus came four days after authorities said 30-year-old Patrick Joseph White fire rounds at the CDC's campus, killing Officer David Rose before dying by suicide.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said White fired more than 200 rounds, using multiple firearms registered to his father. Investigators said White broke into a safe to access the weapons.

Federal and state officials issued statements after the attack, but some parents and former CDC staff said those words were not enough.
