GRAND FORKS — Northlands Rescue Mission will soon reopen its food pantry, which has been restocked with 4,500 pounds of food in less than a week.
The pantry was scheduled to close after Aug. 8, and the reopening is set for Tuesday, Aug. 19. In a statement sent along with a Wednesday, Aug. 13, press release, Communications Coordinator Matthew Collings wrote that the reopening is "well ahead of schedule."
The nonprofit, which serves as the city's primary emergency shelter as well as a resource for hot meals and food boxes, was anticipated to be closed for possibly as long as three months.
The swift reopening is made possible by "an overwhelming community response to an urgent call for donations," the press release said.
