Former Michigan quarterback Jayden Denegal has won the starting job at San Diego State, Kirk Kenney of the San Diego Tribune first reported Wednesday.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound California native transferred to SDSU in December after spending three seasons in Ann Arbor, appearing in seven games as a reserve. Despite Michigan starting three different quarterbacks in 2024, Denegal never received a chance to play.
He will get his shot in 2025 after beating out Central Michigan transfer Bert Emanuel Jr. during fall camp.
“It’s amazing,” Denegal said after Wednesday morning’s practice, via the San Diego Tribune. “It’s exactly what I came here for. I came here to win some football games and be able to showcase my talents, so this is what I’ve been waiting for.”
