ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A new school year can stir up all types of emotions.
Last year included heartbreak when a 10-year-old Roanoke County Schools student died by suicide. Now the district is highlighting the resources in each of the buildings and a series of upcoming meetings for parents.
The district heads back to class Thursday, but before the first bell rings, incoming freshman Natalie Thorell is mapping out her class schedule through Hidden Valley High School.
“This is a little bit nerve-wracking, starting a new school, and it being a lot bigger and finding my classes,” Thorell said.
The walk-through is giving her confidence to start the academic year. And Roanoke County Public Schools is hoping to give families a similar comfort in knowing it has resources available to h
