HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- The Horry County Animal Care Center is holding a “Bark to School” event through Friday, where families can foster an animal and receive school supplies or a swag back in return.

In the first day of the event, the center saw no animals taken for fostering. The Care Center says it is currently at 200% capacity, with 294 animals total, 153 of them being available for adoption or foster care.

With high shelter numbers and more animals coming in every day, the shelter is in desperate need of foster homes and adoptions. With the kennels overflowing, the staff is having a hard time keeping up.
