NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Tensions are escalating in the nation’s capital following President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to Washington, D.C. , citing what he claims is a rise in crime. The move has sparked criticism from leaders across the country, including Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones.
