LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Two sisters say a life-changing gift has forever changed their perception of life.

“I looked at my sister and said I think this is what dying feels like,” Anne Griepsma said.

Griepsma is a nurse practitioner who works in Lake Charles with her sister, Alice Babst, M.D., an obstetrician-gynecologist. They both work at CHRISTUS Ochsner Lake Area Hospital.

Griepsma had been battling lupus since eighth grade, but in 2023 her lupus flared up, sending her into complete kidney and heart failure. She needed a donor before it was too late.
