ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A young man is behind bars Saturday night after police say he shot his Uber driver multiple times on purpose.

Police say 18-year-old Sheliky Sanchez is now charged with an open count of murder for shooting and killing his Uber driver, Joseph Andrus.

Sanchez told detectives he had his girlfriend order the Uber because he wanted to let off steam due to "so much stress." He also told police that he wanted to take out his stress on "anybody he could see or find."

Police say he filtered through several Uber drivers and specifically chose Andrus to be his victim. APD says he shot Andrus five times and watched him bleed out. According to the criminal complaint, Sanchez stole the victim's car and drove it back to his girlfriend's house.
