MURPHYSBORO, Ill., (WSIL) -- Are you moving into a dorm or new place ahead of the upcoming school year? If so, there are some things you should take into consideration.

The Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association (EECA) is informing the public about some electrical safety tips to keep in mind in the dorm room.

Here are some tips shared by the EECA...

Don't overload outlets

Never use frayed or cracked cords

Don't run cords under rugs or doorways

Never charge phones under your pillow

Report electrical issues to maintenance
