COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (WOWT) - It’s playtime at Micah House’s Florence Lakin Child Development Center, a daycare in Council Bluffs. As toddlers are entertained by toys, staff know the service they’re providing for families is important.

“There is an ongoing need for childcare services, especially for families that utilize childcare assistance,” Ashley Flater, CEO Micah House said. “There’s just not a lot of room for those kids.”

The Community Foundation for Western Iowa funded the construction of the center to help address the need for childcare services. CEO Donna Dostal told First Alert 6, the center serves families in and out of Council Bluffs and emphasized the need for child care access in rural communities.
