BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Thousands of students are returning to Western Kentucky University’s campus for the first day of the fall semester on Monday.

While the start of the semester brings a wave of excitement, a larger reminder comes from the WKU Police Department: stay alert and stay safe.

“If you’re driving a car, make sure you lock your doors and hide things in the trunk or under the seats,” explains WKU Chief of Police Mitchell Walker, “Just be aware of your surroundings, if something doesn’t feel right or seem right, then listen to that intuition.”

Officers patrol the campus 24/7, during which they respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls.
