FOREST LAKE, Minn. — People in Forest Lake showed up to honor a police officer who died suddenly on Monday.

The community lined a funeral procession route to pay respects to Detective Josh Brown. Forest Lake Police said he died Monday while off duty. Brown served the department for nearly eight years.

Brown's supervisor and friend Jonathan Glader found him when he didn't show up to work. He says the young detective lit up every room he walked into.

"He was always smiling, he was always positive, he was the type of person you wanted to be around. If you didn't know him, you wanted to know him," Glader said.

Officials have not shared how he died yet, but the Chisago County Sheriff's Department says it was likely a medical incident.
