HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Hawaii State Judiciary is warning residents to beware of jury duty scams as more than 330,000 jury questionnaires are mailed statewide for next year’s potential jury service.
The Judiciary said scammers can impersonate court or law enforcement personnel, falsely claiming that the victim missed jury duty and demand the victim pay a “fine” to avoid arrest.
Scammers can appear convincing by using names of real officials and list actual court addresses. They can even have personal details about the victim, including their name, address, and date of birth.
