HAIKU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The American Red Cross is assisting five people after a fire broke out in their home on Maui Tuesday.
Crews were called to the home on Akahai Place in Haiku at around 2:55 p.m.
No one was home at the time and no one was hurt.
Firefighters said they found heavy fire on the second and third floors of the home, and brush on the property had also caught fire.
The fire was brought under control shortly after 5:40 p.m. and fully extinguished by 9 p.m.
MFD said the fire caused about $270,000 in damage.
The cause is under investigation.
