A former Highland Park police officer with a history of violence has been sentenced for assaulting a man in 2020, court records said.
Dammeon Lamark Player, 51, was sentenced Wednesday to two years of probation and 40 hours of community service, according to Wayne County Circuit Court records.
Player's attorney was not immediately available for comment on Thursday.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced in March that it was charging Player in connection with the 2020 assault of a 36-year-old Highland Park man.
The defendant was charged with misconduct in office, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, and assault with a dangerous weapon. Misconduct in office carries a penalty of up to five years in prison, while assault with intent to do great bodily harm is a 10-year felo
