CROWN POINT — A 27-year-old man has began serving an 18-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to coercing others into robbing gas stations after intimidating them and providing them with drugs, according to the Lake County Prosecutor's Office.

Demarco Guy, of Chicago Heights, is at the Correctional Industrial Facility in Madison County after being sentenced earlier this year, according to the Indiana Department of Correction.

Police say Guy was found in one case with a sawed-off shotgun concealed in his sleeve.

"His method of operation involved targeting vulnerable drug addicts, getting them high inside a vehicle, and then coercing them into robbing gas stations - leaving them feeling they had no choice but to comply," according to prosecutors.
