LAPORTE — The city's former mayor, Blair Milo, was taken to the hospital earlier this week after her bicycle was struck by a car, according to police.

The 42-year-old sustained injuries to her left shoulder and arm, and had swelling to her left knee, according to the crash report.

Milo could not be reached for comment.

The collision occurred 5:49 p.m. Monday at the intersection of 1st Street and D Street, LaPorte police said.

The driver of a Volkswagen Jetta was reportedly turning south on D Street from westbound on 1st Street when her view was obstructed by the sun, according to police.

Milo was approaching the intersection from eastbound 1st Street when her bicycle was struck by the car, according to the report.
