Officials on Wednesday publicly identified a driver who allegedly ran a stop light, triggering a car crash in Vancouver that injured 10 people on Aug. 6 — then fled the scene and shot himself to death.
Matthew Haynes, 25, of Vancouver, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, the Clark County medical examiner determined.
Vancouver police said in a statement that the crash happened around 5:15 p.m. at Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard and 160th Avenue after Haynes allegedly raced through a red light in his pickup truck and hit multiple cars.
At least 10 people were injured in the crash — two of them with serious injuries. The impact ejected one person from the car they were in, police said.
Officials did not publicly identify the people who were injured, or share any updates
