BRISTOL, R.I. (WPRI) — State and local leaders were in Bristol on Thursday to break ground on the new Mt. Hope High School.
In 2023, voters in Bristol and Warren approved a $200 million bond to replace the high school and renovate other school buildings in the district.
"This new high school is full of promise and will include new features like outdoor learning yards, electric vehicle charging stations, a regulation-sized track and synthetic field, and expanded CTE and special education programs," Gov. Dan McKee said.
Flooding is a recurring problem at Mt. Hope, so the new building would be built on the current site on Chestnut Street, but outside the flood zone. A stormwater management system will also be installed.
