Residents at a local senior living facility are saying “thank you” to first responders following the deadly flooding in the Tennessee Valley this week.

Residents of Morning Pointe at Happy Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care are giving back to those first responders by making to-go snack bags.

The bags are filled with treats along with notes of encouragement in effort to show appreciation for first responders who not only came to the rescue during the flash flooding on August 12 but all year long.

“Yesterday’s [Tuesday’s] flash flooding in North Georgia and Chattanooga was a powerful reminder of how much our first responders give of themselves in times of crisis,” the facility said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

Morning Pointe is planning to deliver the bags on Friday.
