NEWAYGO COUNTY, MI – The co-owners of a now-closed restaurant have been convicted of arson for a fire that destroyed their business.

A jury found David Joseph Robinson, 52, and Ryan Allen Robinson, 32, guilty of arson of insured real property at trial this week in Newaygo County Circuit Court.

Jurors also found the younger Robinson guilty of two counts of false pretenses, according to court records.

The father-son duo were co-owners of Charlie’s Family Grill, 276 S. Charles St. in White Cloud. After a six-month investigation into the March 18, 2023, blaze, authorities charged the pair.

The restaurant permanently closed as a result of the fire.

Upon conviction, Judge Robert Springstead revoked bond for both men, and they remain housed in the Newaygo County Jail until sentencing in Nove
