LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - On Friday, August 8, Andrial Ortiz, 30, of Lansing, was arraigned on 17 felony charges stemming from an April 2024 incident in which he allegedly disarmed and shot a police officer.

On April 10, 2024, officers from the Lansing Police Department (LPD) conducted a traffic stop on Ortiz’s vehicle.

The stop took place in the rear parking lot of an apartment complex near the intersection of Holmes Road and Pleasant Grove Road.

During the stop, officers searched the vehicle and reportedly discovered suspected drugs.

As officers attempted to arrest Ortiz, he allegedly resisted and began to struggle with them.
