A police watchdog agency in Saskatchewan is investigating a the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man by RCMP officers in Deschambault Lake.

According to the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team – a civilian-led agency mandated to investigate cases when a death or serious injury is caused by police officers in the province – Mounties from the local RCMP detachment came across a group of people in a wooded area near the village on the morning of August 8 “at a location where a gunshot had recently been discharged.”
