Prosecutors allege Fort Bend County Judge KP George, who is facing two felony charges of money laundering, used campaign funds to pay for his personal property taxes as well as a down payment on a house.

As first reported by Houston TV station KPRC , the allegations surfaced after prosecutors spelled them out in a court filing Wednesday in response to a request by George’s attorney to throw out the indictments against him.

George, a Democrat-turned-Republican first elected in 2018 as the top elected official for the county southwest of Houston, is facing two counts of money laundering and a misdemeanor charge of misrepresentation of identity for accusations that he worked with a staffer to fake racist attacks against his own campaign on socia
