GOSHEN – An Orange County Court Jury has convicted a Newburgh man of robbery, grand larceny, and endangering the welfare of a child for stealing $200 from a 10-year-old who was taking the money to his babysitter.
Jamar Murry-El, 31, faces up to 3 ½ to seven years in state prison when sentenced in October. He is being held in the Orange County Jail without bail pending sentencing.
It was alleged that Murry-El approached the child as he was on the porch of their residence and asked him for $10. When the boy said the money was for the babysitter, Murry-El took it from the child’s hands and fled.
The police located the suspect quickly and took him into custody.
