Work on the 2025 edition of Clean Drains: Be River SmART will begin this weekend as 13 artists create sidewalk murals on or near storm drains to raise awareness about what washes into the rivers.
Projects will be installed between Saturday and Aug. 24. The schedule was chosen to overlap with the city’s Open Streets Fort Wayne celebration and Arts United’s Taste of the Arts festival, advisory member Alexandra Hall told the Public Art Commission at its June meeting. Several drains were strategically chosen to allow for engagement during events.
Nicholas Sprunger is slated to be painting Sunday during Open Streets, which brings activities including live music, games and food to more than 20 blocks of Calhoun Street. Sprunger’s mural will be installed on the sidewalk outside the Hilton hotel
