KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Kansas City area for Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Heat indices for both days are estimated to be around 100-105 degrees.

Even with the upcoming heat advisories, the metro still hasn't seen temperatures reach triple digits this year. The hottest day for 2025 so far has been 96 degrees, on July 29.

Kansas City's all-time hottest temperature of 113 degrees was actually set 89 years ago, on Aug. 14, 1936, during the Dust Bowl. The year 1936 also holds the record for the most 110-degree days in Kansas City history, with four, according to NOAA records.

Last year, Kansas City International Airport hit a high temperature of 99 degrees on Aug. 25, making it the hottest day of 2024.
