TROY, Texas — Kelsey Killen's photograph has been selected to appear on the Times Square Jumbotron as part of the National Down Syndrome Society's worldwide photo challenge. Out of thousands of submissions from around the globe, only 500 photos were chosen for the prestigious display.

"We got an email not too long ago that they had chosen Kelsey as one of the ones that would be on the Jumbotron in Times Square," said her mother, Meghan Killen. "I'm pretty excited."

The broadcast will take place right before New York City's Buddy Walk, an annual event that celebrates people with Down syndrome and raises awareness for the community.

But Kelsey's journey to Times Square began before she was born. When Meghan was 30 weeks pregnant, doctors delivered a diagnosis that shook her world.
