CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Schools are less than two weeks away from heading back to the classrooms. As students go back to schools across the country many teachers, staff, and families have concerns about immigration enforcement.
For many students the start of school is a time of excitement and for others it could mean fear as Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools has shared that its allowing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, or ICE agents in public areas of its schools without permission.
As Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools parents prepare to send their students back to school many shared their concerns about immigration enforcement at the district’s board meeting on Tuesday night.
